Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Cable Size Calculator ("the App", "we", "us") handles information when you use our Android application. We built this app to work primarily offline and on-device, and we keep data collection to what's necessary to operate the app and its optional features.
Calculator inputs & saved projects
Voltage, current, distance, conductor material, and other values you enter into the calculator are processed locally on your device to generate wire-sizing results.
If you save a project (using the Projects feature), that data is stored locally in the app's on-device database (Room). We do not upload your saved projects to our own servers.
BYOK AI Assistant (Bring Your Own Key)
- The AI Assistant feature is optional and off by default. It only activates if you choose to enter your own API key for a third-party AI provider (Google Gemini, OpenAI, Groq, OpenRouter, or Anthropic).
- Your API key is stored locally on your device and is never sent to us.
- When you use this feature, the prompt you send (and relevant calculator context) is transmitted directly from your device to the AI provider you selected, using your key. That provider's own privacy policy governs how they handle that data.
- We do not see, store, or process your AI conversations on our servers.
Ads & analytics
The App may display ads served through Google AdMob. AdMob and Google may collect device identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID), approximate location, and usage data to serve and measure ads, and to prevent fraud, in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
You can manage ad personalization through your device's Google Settings, including resetting or limiting your Advertising ID.
No accounts, no personal profiles
The App does not require you to create an account, and we do not collect names, addresses, or payment information. We do not sell personal data.
Data retention & deletion
Calculator history and saved projects remain on your device until you delete them in-app or uninstall the App. Clearing app data or uninstalling the App removes this locally stored information.
Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
